Fantastic Mr Fox comes out soon (end of the month), this was one of my most favourite books when I was young and I especially liked the illustrations by Quentin Blake mingled with the words of Roald Dahl, they are a great combo and not quite the sam without one another. Anyway to the film, on paper I like everything about it, Wes Anderson is one of my favourite directors (A Life Aquatic, Dajeeling Limited), his use of bizarre scenes and ordinary life make for a topsy turvy viewing experience. The crew who act in his films (Billy Murray, Owen Wilson, Jason Schwartzman) always make films realistic, awkward, funny and generally great.
However, I just watched the trailer and realised they all have American accents, which kind of shocked me- its pretty obvious really as they are mainly all American’s doing the voice overs. I guess Fantastic Mr Fox always seemed very English to me. I am keen to see the film as I like everything about it, I guess I will have to keep an open mind and try not to think of the story I remember so well. It could be great, lets just hope so…
